We’re back with another “Is it Worth It?” series! And now, we’re going to be reviewing another scenario: moving into a home with beautiful clay roof tiles!

We know the feeling of moving into a new house. You’re not as sure with most of the house (especially the roof!) than you do when you install it from scratch.

So, maybe you’re feeling hesitant? Maybe excited? Well, whatever it is— don’t fret just yet.

If you’re looking for advice— well, BITC Roof Tiles got some coming your way!

Scrutinizing a previously-installed roof

It’s not at all difficult to gauge the state of the roof… and we’d imagine you’d be especially motivated if you’re gonna be using it for the next few decades!

Before you move into the house, make sure you’ve got the right details down. Generally, you can call roofers like us to take a closer look and assess the situation; but if you want, you can do it yourself!

Here’s a few tips we find that are helpful:

When did the roof installation finish?

Asking the right questions can save you a lot of trouble in the roofing world, as well as the real estate industry! See, with clay roof tiles— you don’t need to be worried most of the time. It lasts, give or take, a hundred years. More than that and you’re looking at a possible roof replacement.

Who did the installation?

The roof contractors who did the previous installation are an important part of its longevity. Search them up so you can get an idea of the quality of their work. Also, take note: manufacturers! The type of clay roof they installed is very important as well. If the clay roof tile is in the low-end range, quality-wise: you shouldn’t expect much performance. But with great quality tiles like Tejas Cobert clay roof tiles— you’re generally in good hands!
